Procedures
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to correct the size and shape of the labia minora and labia majora using plastic surgery techniques. Операцию выполняют в случае, если есть дискомфорт во время ношения белья, асимметрия, дряблость, складчатая форма губ и т.д.
Types of Labiaplasty
Different techniques are used depending on which type of labia is being corrected:
For the labia minora:
Linear resection – the edges of the labia minora are excised to remove excess tissue. The edges are then sutured with absorbable stitches that dissolve on their own and do not require additional intervention.
V-shaped resection – tissue is removed from both sides in a V-shaped pattern. The edges are then sutured to achieve a natural appearance.
For the labia majora:
Liposculpture (fat transfer) – the volume of the labia is increased using a small amount of the patient’s own fat, typically taken from the thighs or abdomen.
Intimate contouring – a special biopolymer filler is injected into the labia to correct their shape and volume.
Resection of deformed skin and tissue.
At Expert Medical Clinic, our experienced surgeons most commonly use the following techniques:
Trim method – removal of excess tissue along the edge of the labia to create a smooth, even contour.
V-shaped resection – removal of a portion of tissue in the shape of the letter “V” while preserving the natural contours.
Laser labiaplasty – a minimally invasive technique associated with minimal bleeding and faster healing.
Indications for Labiaplasty
The procedure may be performed not only for medical reasons but also for aesthetic purposes. Labiaplasty may be recommended in cases of:
labial hypertrophy accompanied by functional discomfort or impairment;
changes following childbirth;
age-related changes;
asymmetric hypertrophy.
Contraindications to Labiaplasty
Inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary system;
reproductive period;
age under 18.
Preparation for Labiaplasty
Before the procedure, a consultation with a surgeon is required. The following examinations may also be necessary:
Examination by a gynecologist;
Pelvic ultrasound;
Blood tests;
Tests for HIV, AIDS, hepatitis, and syphilis;
ECG;
Medical clearance for surgery from a general practitioner/physician.
Recovery After Labiaplasty
Initial recovery usually takes 1–2 days. Exercise can generally be resumed after 2–3 weeks. During the recovery period, visits to baths, saunas, and swimming pools, as well as sexual intercourse, are prohibited. Follow all of your doctor’s postoperative instructions during rehabilitation.
The final appearance of the labia becomes apparent approximately 2–3 months after surgery.
