During hot weather, it is impossible to go without sunscreen. The market offers a wide range of products, but how do you choose one that actually works? We explain everything in our guide.

When choosing a sunscreen or serum, pay attention to the SPF level. The highest commonly used rating is SPF 50+. There are also products labeled SPF 60 or 100, but their level of protection is not significantly different from SPF 50. It is better to choose trusted, well-tested products. SPF ratings of 60, 80, or 100 may not always provide the claimed level of sun protection, or their actual protection factor may be lower than stated on the packaging.
What else should you pay attention to? The types of ultraviolet radiation: UVA rays are longer-wave rays, while UVB rays are medium-wave rays. European brands usually indicate UVA protection, while Korean brands often use the PA (Protection Grade of UVA) rating, which indicates protection against UVA rays. For example, PA+ means a low level of protection, while PA++++ indicates the highest level.
Which sunscreen should you choose? We have put together a selection of the best sunscreens.
1. Sensilis Moisturizing & Refreshing
One of the best sunscreens on the market. This SPF product from the Spanish brand is suitable for all skin types and phototypes. It protects against UVA and UVB rays, moisturizes and soothes the skin, and also has antioxidant properties. The gel-cream also helps protect against photoaging. The 250 ml bottle lasts a long time — up to 6 months.
2. Round Lab SPF
The Korean brand Round Lab offers three types of facial sunscreen: Tone-up, Birch Juice Moisturizing, and Mild-up. Tone-up and Mild-up are tinted, but the color is barely noticeable once applied to the skin.
The texture is lightweight and non-greasy. The cream spreads evenly and works well under makeup. The product provides a very high level of protection — SPF 50+, PA++++. Next-generation chemical filters effectively block UV radiation and help protect against photoaging.
3. Garnier SPF
Garnier offers sunscreens for the face and body, as well as products for children. They absorb well, are non-greasy, and do not leave a white cast on the skin. One of the most popular products is Ambre Solaire SPF 30. It contains shea butter and provides 24-hour moisturization.
4. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Shaka SPF 50+
This pharmacy skincare brand has developed a sunscreen suitable for all skin types. The fluid is ultra-lightweight, leaves no white residue, spreads evenly, and works well under makeup. It is resistant to water and sweat. The convenient packaging makes it easy to take with you on vacation or for a walk.
5. Frudia Ultra UV Shield Sun Essence SPF 50+
Another Korean brand, Frudia, has combined physical and chemical filters in this product to provide effective facial UV protection. The formula also contains skincare ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and acerola and blueberry extracts.
The essence helps even out the skin tone and works well under makeup. Silicones create a water-resistant film that helps prevent moisture loss.
6. Biore UV Aqua Watery Essence SPF 50
A Japanese water-based sunscreen with a lightweight texture. The essence is water-resistant, even when you sweat. It uses chemical UV filters and contains hyaluronic acid as well as orange, grapefruit, and lemon extracts. Despite containing alcohol, it does not dry out the skin.
It works well under makeup. However, be careful when applying it near clothing, as stains can be difficult to remove due to the formula's chemical composition.
We have highlighted six of the best sunscreens. This does not mean that other products are ineffective. Sunscreens should also be carefully selected depending on your skin condition and whether you have acne.
