Indications for rhinoplasty

Reasons for undergoing the procedure include:

• Impaired nasal breathing;

• A long or wide nose;

• Reshaping the nasal tip.

Contraindications

The main contraindications include:

• Diabetes mellitus;

• Cancer;

• Chronic diseases;

• Blood clotting disorders;

• Nasal tumors or growths;

• Epilepsy and psychiatric disorders;

• Tuberculosis;

• Kidney and liver diseases;

• Oral cavity diseases.

How is rhinoplasty performed?

Before surgery, a consultation with an ENT specialist is required. In some cases, a consultation with a plastic surgeon may also be recommended. Our ENT specialists perform surgeries involving the nose and ears. If surgery is indicated, the doctor will request the following preoperative examinations:

• Complete blood test;

• Blood glucose test;

• ECG;

• ALT/AST;

• Hepatitis screening;

• HIV/AIDS test.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually lasts from 1.5 to 6 hours.

Surgical techniques

• Open rhinoplasty (through an incision beneath the nose);

• Closed rhinoplasty (through incisions inside the nose, without visible scars).

Depending on the patient's anatomy and desired outcome, the surgeon reshapes the cartilage and/or bone structures of the nose.

After the operation, your doctor will provide detailed rehabilitation instructions. During the recovery period, patients should avoid saunas, steam baths, swimming pools, strenuous physical activity, and should sleep only on their back.
